A Gem Opens in Windlesham

If you're a coffee and cake enthusiast living in or visiting Windlesham, you'll be delighted to hear about a charming new addition to the village. The Windlesham Cakery opened its doors on 11 June, nestled on Updown Hill between a pet shop and a dry cleaners. The brainchild of local baker Lucinda, this independent café has already become a welcoming spot for the community.

What's on Offer

The café boasts a thoughtfully curated menu featuring fresh, homemade treats. On the day of our visit, customers could choose from gooey caramel brownies, chewy rocky road, lemon drizzle cake, and a gluten-free chocolate chip and banana loaf. Pain au chocolats and croissants round out the bakery selection, with prices ranging from £3.50 for a croissant to around £6 for lunchtime sourdough toasties.

The drinks menu is equally impressive, featuring everything from espressos and flat whites to speciality options like chai lattes and hot chocolate, with prices between £2.50 and £3.95. The quality is clear from the first sip—a Colombian flat white arrived perfectly hot, served in a pretty cup and saucer.

The Atmosphere

What makes The Windlesham Cakery special is more than just the food and drink. The café has been designed with comfort in mind, featuring indoor seating alongside a handful of outdoor tables—perfect for enjoying an iced latte in the summer sunshine. The interior includes a gorgeous red brick feature wall and maintains a calm, welcoming ambiance that immediately puts visitors at ease. Dog owners will appreciate that the café is pooch-friendly, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed morning out with your furry companion.

Lucinda's Vision

Meeting Lucinda reveals why this café has such a special feel. Her passion for baking and her gratitude at opening her own business in the village shines through clearly. As she settles into her new venture, she's already planning to expand both the food menu and opening hours. Currently operating Tuesday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Lucinda has big plans ahead.

A Welcome Addition

It's wonderful to see such a delightful independent coffee shop flourish in the heart of Windlesham. With free street parking available and a genuine community spirit, The Windlesham Cakery is exactly the sort of neighbourhood treasure that makes village life special.
