Residential suburb with a distinctive 1930s art deco Broadway, Stoneleigh station for fast London commutes, and quiet family streets.
Stoneleigh is a residential suburb between Epsom and Worcester Park, notable for its art deco Stoneleigh shopping Broadway — built in the 1930s as part of a planned residential development, and one of the more distinctive inter-war shopping parades in Surrey.
Stoneleigh station sits on the Chessington branch line, with services to London Waterloo via Surbiton in around 25–30 minutes. The station and the Broadway were developed together as part of the same planned suburbanisation of this corner of north-east Epsom & Ewell.
The Broadway retains a good variety of independent shops, cafes, a Post Office, and service businesses, and functions as a self-contained local centre for the surrounding residential streets. Stoneleigh Park to the north provides open space for residents.
The area is predominantly 1930s semi-detached and detached residential streets, highly regarded by families who value the short commute to London and the quieter suburban character compared to Epsom town. North Ewell, to the south of Stoneleigh, is a related residential area close to the Nonsuch Park boundary.
