What's On in Epsom: 18 October 2026
As autumn colours peak, it's a perfect week to explore Epsom's green spaces and settle into cosy autumn routines.
Good Morning, Epsom
What a week it's been, hasn't it? Epsom's been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, but as we head into the second half of October, there's something rather restorative about getting outside and remembering why we love this corner of Surrey. The autumn light is absolutely gorgeous right now, the leaves are turning properly golden, and there's real comfort to be found in familiar routines and friendly faces.
This Week in Epsom
- October walks are calling — Our local green spaces are looking their absolute best. Whether it's a gentle stroll around Epsom Downs, a ramble through Horton Country Park, or exploring the quieter paths around Ashtead, October offers that perfect balance of mild weather and stunning seasonal colour. Pack a flask, grab a mate, and get out there.
- The town's had a tough week — Following disorder in the town centre, Surrey Police have increased visibility in Epsom. It's been divisive and upsetting for many of us who call this place home. If you've been affected or worried, community groups and local churches have been offering support.
- Markets keep going strong — Wednesday and Saturday mornings at Epsom town centre market are reliably warm and welcoming. Perfect for picking up fresh seasonal produce, autumn plants for the garden, or just bumping into neighbours over a cup of tea.
This Weekend
Saturday morning is ideal for hitting the market early, then taking a proper walk. Epsom Downs is never crowded at this time of year and it's genuinely free — just you, the views, and some splendid autumn air. Bundle up a bit, bring the dog if you've got one, and let your head clear.
If you're after something a bit closer to home, the High Street is perfectly pleasant for a gentle wander and a browse. Sunday's another good day for a longer walk — perhaps venture towards Ewell or Stoneleigh if you fancy a change of scenery.
Where to Eat and Drink
Yaadein over in Stoneleigh does proper, flavourful Indian food in a genuinely warm atmosphere — great for a Friday or Saturday night when you want something a bit special without fuss. The Jolly Coopers remains a proper local's pub, especially cosy as the evenings draw in. And if you fancy something different, Dastaan on Kingston Road serves excellent Pakistani cuisine and has become something of a neighbourhood favourite.
All three are the sort of places where regulars are welcomed and strangers become regulars quickly — which feels rather important this week.
Worth Knowing
Parking around town can get a bit tight on Saturdays, especially market day, so if you can, consider walking or cycling into the centre. The train station's also well-connected if you're heading into town from further afield.
As the clocks go back in a couple of weeks, now's the time to make the most of autumn daylight for those evening walks — get out before 5pm if you want proper light to enjoy the season at its best.
Take care of each other this week, Epsom. We've got this.
