What's On in Epsom: 27 September – 3 October 2026
As autumn settles in, there's plenty to explore across Epsom this week—from the historic Downs to our vibrant local food scene.
Good Morning, Epsom
What a week it's been in town! As we head into autumn proper, there's that lovely feeling of crisp mornings and the leaves just beginning to turn. Whether you're a long-time local or fairly new to the area, there's always something worth doing around here—and this week's no exception.
This Week in Epsom
- The historic Epsom Downs are looking particularly lovely at this time of year. Whether you fancy a proper walk, a gentle stroll with the family, or just a sit-down with a coffee and a view, the Downs remain free and accessible. The autumn light across the racecourse grounds is really rather special.
- Epsom Market continues as usual on Wednesday and Saturday mornings in the town centre. Perfect for picking up seasonal veg, fresh flowers, and a proper chat with local traders. Saturday's usually the busier day if you prefer a bit of a buzz.
- Local community life is quietly ticking along nicely. If you're looking to get more involved in Epsom—whether that's through churches, community groups, or neighbourhood initiatives—now's a good time to reconnect. Many groups gear up their autumn schedules over these next few weeks.
- The nights are drawing in at pace now, so if there's anywhere you've been meaning to visit outdoors, this is the week to do it while the evenings are still reasonably light.
This Weekend
Saturday's your day for the market if you haven't made it yet this week—grab some seasonal produce, treat yourself to something nice for lunch. Afterwards, head up to the Downs for a walk. The autumn colours should be starting to show through now, and it's that perfect temperature where you're not too warm in a jumper but not shivering either.
Sunday's ideal for a slower pace. If you fancy getting out of the house, Ewell and Ashtead are lovely for a wander, with some beautiful period properties and quiet high streets. Or simply stay local and explore any of Epsom's parks you haven't properly visited yet.
Where to Eat and Drink
Yaadein in Stoneleigh remains one of our best-kept secrets for proper Indian food—the sort of place where regulars pop in and the staff actually know your name. Well worth booking ahead on weekends.
The Jolly Coopers is brilliant for a proper pub meal and a pint. Real ales, actual food that's been cooked, and the kind of atmosphere where you bump into people you know. Classic Epsom.
If you're after something lighter or fancier, Dastaan on Kingston Road does excellent South Asian cuisine in a more contemporary setting. Great for a special evening out without leaving town.
Worth Knowing
- Parking around town can get a bit tight on Saturday mornings when the market's on. If you're planning to shop, arrive earlier rather than later, or consider the station car park and walking in.
- Daylight hours are shrinking quickly now—sunset's around 6.45pm this week. If you're walking the Downs or exploring the local parks, plan your timing accordingly and bring a torch if you're out after dark.
Have a wonderful week, and do pop along to somewhere new if you get the chance. That's what makes Epsom such a friendly place.
