What's On in Epsom: 20–26 September 2026
As autumn settles in, discover the best ways to explore Epsom's green spaces, celebrate local conservation wins, and enjoy a proper weekend.
Good Morning, Epsom
What a week it's been! If you've been keeping up with the news, there's been quite a bit of buzz around town. But let's focus on the good stuff — and there's plenty of it. September's that lovely sweet spot where the summer heat's finally lifted, the mornings have that crisp autumn feel, and our green spaces are looking absolutely brilliant. Now's the time to get out there.
This Week in Epsom
- Water voles are back on the River Wey — After nearly 30 years, the National Trust has successfully reintroduced 300 water voles to ten sites along the River Wey. It's a proper conservation win for Surrey, and if you fancy spotting them on a quiet riverside walk, this is the week to try. Early morning or dusk are your best bets.
- September is peak walking season — Our local guide this week covers all the best spots: Horton Country Park, Nonsuch Park, and the quieter corners of Epsom Downs are all looking their best right now. The light's golden, the paths are dry, and you won't be battling summer crowds.
- Epsom Market is thriving — If you haven't been to our Saturday and Wednesday markets recently, pop along. September's brilliant for local produce, flowers, and a proper chat with familiar faces.
- Outdoor activities everywhere — Whether it's a gentle stroll through Ewell or a longer ramble around Ashtead Common, September's genuinely one of the best months to explore what's on our doorstep.
This Weekend
Saturday morning, head to Epsom Market — it's a proper ritual for locals, and the produce this time of year is beautiful. Grab fresh vegetables, maybe some fresh flowers for the house, and catch up with regulars you always see there.
On Sunday, take a walk on Epsom Downs. It's free, it's open to everyone, and the views across the Downs are particularly lovely as the light changes in early autumn. Pack a flask, bring the family, maybe take a picnic. The chalk grassland's still green, and if you're lucky, you might spot some of our returning wildlife.
If you've got little ones, Horton Country Park is wonderful at this time of year — easier walking paths, plenty to explore, and quieter than peak summer.
Where to Eat and Drink
After a morning out, Yaadein in Stoneleigh does brilliant Indian food — proper flavours, warm atmosphere, and the kind of place where regulars are always welcomed back. Great for a casual Saturday lunch.
For something different, The Jolly Coopers is a local favourite for a proper pint and good pub chat. It's got real character, the sort of place where you bump into neighbours.
If you fancy something lighter, Dastaan on Kingston Road does excellent Pakistani cuisine in a relaxed setting — well worth a visit if you haven't been recently.
Worth Knowing
- Parking at Epsom Market (Saturdays and Wednesdays) — Arrive early if you want a good spot. The car parks fill quickly, but there's usually something nearby on residential streets if you're patient.
- Epsom Downs walking — The chalk paths can get muddy after rain, so if there's been a downpour, wear decent shoes. The views are worth it though!
Enjoy your week, and do get out there while the weather's kind. See you around!
