What's On in Epsom: 13–19 September 2026
As autumn arrives in Epsom, there's plenty to explore outdoors this week—plus some lovely community events worth your time.
Good Morning, Epsom
It's been quite a week locally, hasn't it? As we settle into proper autumn weather, it feels like the right time to get out and about—and the good news is Epsom's got plenty to offer. The leaves are just starting to turn, the air's getting that lovely crisp feel, and honestly, it's the perfect season to rediscover some of our local spots.
This Week in Epsom
- Community Events & Church Gatherings: St Martin's Church and other local faith communities are hosting events this week focused on hope and togetherness. If you're looking to connect with neighbours or simply be part of something meaningful, these are worth checking out.
- Policing the Derby: Police will be out in force around Epsom Downs ahead of the autumn racing schedule. It's one of the year's biggest operations, so expect increased traffic and activity if you're heading that way. Plan accordingly!
- Autumn Walks Are Here: This is genuinely the best time of year to explore Epsom's green spaces. Free walks around Epsom Common, Horton Country Park, and the Downs themselves are brilliant right now—no crowds, proper fresh air, and that early-autumn light that makes everything look lovely.
- Saturday Market as Always: Epsom Market is on this Saturday, same as ever. Perfect for picking up seasonal veg, plants, and a bit of local colour.
This Weekend
If the weather holds (and it should be decent), Saturday's a cracker for getting outdoors. The market's bustling in the morning—pop along for a browse and a coffee. Then, head up to Epsom Downs for a proper walk. The views across Surrey are really something in September, and it's free.
Sunday's equally good. If you fancy something more sheltered, Horton Country Park near Ewell is beautiful this time of year, with woodland paths and open meadows. It's quieter than the Downs and brilliant for families or a gentle couple of hours with a thermos.
If walking isn't your thing, just having a wander through some of the quieter residential roads around Stoneleigh or Ashtead is lovely—you'll spot gardens in their autumn glory, and it's the sort of thing that costs nothing but feels like a proper treat.
Where to Eat and Drink
After a morning's walk, you'll have earned a proper meal. Yaadein in Stoneleigh does excellent Indian food in a relaxed setting—their lunch specials are good value. If you want something cosy and pub-like, The Jolly Coopers is the sort of place where locals actually go; proper pints, good food, no fuss. And if you fancy something quick and cheerful, Dastaan on Kingston Road does great Pakistani street food at sensible prices.
Worth Knowing
Parking around the Downs: If you're heading to Epsom Downs for a walk this weekend, get there earlier rather than later. With police operations and the racing schedule building up, spaces fill quickly. Weekday mornings are usually quieter if you can manage it.
Autumn in Epsom: It's proper walking season now until November. Download a local walks map from the council website if you want to try something new—there are some real gems around here that most people don't know about.
Have a great week, and do get outside if you can. September's a gift in Surrey.
