Good Morning, Epsom

It's been quite a week in our town, hasn't it? But as we head into September properly, there's something really lovely about the shift in season—the light's turning golden, the weather's cooler, and it feels like a fresh start. This is genuinely one of the best times to get out and about around Epsom, and we've got plenty to keep us busy.

This Week in Epsom

- September walks are calling: The transition from summer to autumn means perfect conditions for exploring the Downs, Epsom Commons, and our quieter green spaces. It's not too hot, not too cold—just right for a proper wander. Whether it's a gentle stroll or a longer ramble, this week's weather looks ideal.

- The Saturday market is back in full swing: If you haven't been to Epsom Market lately, pop along this Saturday. It's a proper community hub, and September brings great fresh produce and seasonal bits. Wednesday's good too if you can't make the weekend.

- Local community spaces are hosting events: Several community organisations around Epsom are bringing people together this month—it's a good time to check what's happening near you, whether that's church events, neighbourhood groups, or local initiatives.

- The Downs are glorious right now: Free, accessible, and with views that remind you why we live here, the Downs are worth a visit any day this week. The light at this time of year is genuinely special.

This Weekend

Saturday morning, get yourself to Epsom Market if you can—browse, grab a coffee, catch up with neighbours. Then head out for a walk: the Downs are perfect, or if you fancy something gentler, the parks around Stoneleigh and Ashtead are lovely this time of year. The Common's great too, especially early in the day when it's peaceful.

If you fancy something more structured, there are various walking routes mapped out around Epsom that take you through the countryside before autumn properly arrives. Nothing too demanding—just a chance to be outside and enjoy the season changing.

Sunday's ideal for a proper breakfast or brunch out, then maybe a longer walk if the weather holds.

Where to Eat and Drink

After a morning on the Downs, Yaadein in Stoneleigh is absolutely worth a visit—proper Indian food, friendly spot, feels like a real neighbourhood place. For something more casual, The Jolly Coopers is a solid local pub with decent food and a good atmosphere. If you fancy something different, Dastaan on Kingston Road does excellent Pakistani and Indian food—great for a proper sit-down meal this time of year.

Worth Knowing

- Epsom Market runs Wednesdays and Saturdays—it's your best bet for fresh seasonal produce and a real sense of community. Gets busy mid-morning, so pop early if you prefer it quieter.

- Parking around the town centre can get tight on Saturdays, so if you're driving, give yourself extra time or consider the Park & Ride options if you're coming from further afield.

Here's to a lovely week outdoors, Epsom. Make the most of this golden September weather while it lasts.
