What a week it's been for our town. As temperatures stay pleasantly warm and summer's in full swing, there's a real sense of community spirit about Epsom right now. It's a perfect time to get outside, enjoy our wonderful green spaces, and support the local spots we all love.

This Week in Epsom

- Free summer walks are calling — July's the ideal month to explore Epsom's shaded woodland trails and open downland vistas. Whether you fancy the Downs, village walks around Ashtead, or the quieter paths through Stoneleigh, there are brilliant free routes for all abilities. - Epsom Downs is always free to visit — If you haven't been lately, it's a wonderful spot to walk, picnic, or simply breathe in the Surrey air. Easy to reach by foot or a quick bus ride, it's proper summer territory.

- Community events are bringing people together — Local churches and organisations are hosting gatherings this week. If you're keen to connect with neighbours and support community initiatives, keep an eye on notice boards and local Facebook groups for details.

- Getting around Epsom's easier than you'd think — No car? No problem. Our town's perfectly navigable on foot and by bus, especially on warm summer days when you want to avoid the traffic anyway.

This Weekend

Saturday's your chance to pop into Epsom Market — it's been running every Wednesday and Saturday for years, and it's a genuine local hub. Fresh veg, flowers, crafts, and a real community feel. Worth a visit even if you're not buying.

If you fancy a proper walk, head to Epsom Downs early morning when it's cooler. The views across Surrey are stunning, and it's free. Pack a picnic and make an afternoon of it.

For something more sheltered, explore the woodland around Ashtead Common or take the gentle village walk through Ewell — lovely spots for families, and you'll spot parts of Epsom's history along the way.

Where to Eat and Drink

After a walk, you'll be hungry. Yaadein in Stoneleigh does excellent Indian food — proper flavours, friendly service, and great value. Or if you fancy something cosier, The Jolly Coopers is a proper local pub with real character and decent food.

For something quicker, Dastaan on Kingston Road offers brilliant Pakistani cuisine at reasonable prices, perfect for a casual lunch or takeaway before heading back out.

Worth Knowing

Summer parking can be tricky — if you're driving into town on a Saturday, aim for the morning or use the Park & Ride services. Better yet, cycle or catch the bus; Epsom's buses run regularly and it's genuinely less hassle.

Keep an eye on opening times during summer holidays — some local shops and services adjust their hours. A quick phone call to check before you pop in can save a wasted trip, especially mid-week.
