What a week it's been! We're right in the thick of summer now, and honestly, there's no better time to be living here. The evenings are long, the weather's been kind to us, and our green spaces are looking absolutely lovely. Whether you're a seasoned local or relatively new to the area, this is prime time to get out and about.

This Week in Epsom

- Free summer walks are calling: July is absolutely the month to explore Epsom's outdoor spaces on foot. From the historic views across the Downs to peaceful village greens and our favourite local parks—it's all there, completely free, and perfect for an evening stroll or weekend adventure.

- Getting around without the car: If you've been thinking about leaving the car at home more often, this week's a good reminder that walking, cycling, and our local train connections make exploring Epsom really straightforward. It's easier than you'd think, and much nicer on a summer's day.

- The Downs are always worth a visit: Whether it's a quick lunchtime walk or a proper weekend ramble, Epsom Downs never gets old. The views, the space, the fresh air—it's one of those places that makes you remember why you live here.

This Weekend

Saturday morning, head down to Epsom Market if you haven't been in a while. It's a proper little gem—fresh produce, local bits and pieces, and genuinely friendly traders. Perfect for picking up something nice for a weekend lunch.

If you fancy a longer walk, make your way up to the Downs. Even a couple of hours up there clears the head brilliantly. There's parking at the top, or if you're feeling energetic, walk from the town centre—it's totally doable.

Sunday's ideal for something slower. Pack a picnic, find a quiet spot in one of our local parks, and just breathe. This is what summer's for.

Where to Eat and Drink

Fancy a proper night out? Yaadein over in Stoneleigh does excellent Indian food in a warm, unpretentious setting—exactly what you want on a summer evening. Book ahead on weekends.

For something more relaxed, The Jolly Coopers is a proper local's pub with a decent menu and a nice garden area. Great if you fancy a pint and some food without any fuss.

If you're craving something quick and good, Dastaan on Kingston Road does brilliant Indian street food. Nip in, grab something tasty, and you're done.

Worth Knowing

Car parks and summer Saturdays: Town centre car parks get busy on Saturdays, especially mid-morning. If you're heading into Epsom for shopping or eating, either go early or consider the train—it's often simpler than battling for a space.

Evenings are long: With sunset not until around 9:15 p.m. this week, you've got plenty of daylight for an after-work walk or a leisurely evening out. Make the most of it—July doesn't last forever.
