Summer's in full swing in Epsom this week — time to get outdoors, support your community, and enjoy what makes our town special.

What a week it's been — and what a time to be enjoying Epsom in full summer bloom. The weather's looking glorious, the evenings are stretching out beautifully, and there's a real sense of the season getting started properly. If you haven't already, this is absolutely the week to get outside and make the most of it.
This Week in Epsom
- Water voles are back on the River Wey — After more than 20 years, the National Trust has successfully released hundreds of water voles into Surrey's River Wey. It's genuinely wonderful news for our local wildlife, and if you fancy a gentle riverside walk, you might just spot one. Pop along the Wey towpaths for a bit of nature spotting.
- June weather is calling you outdoors — Our green spaces are at their absolute best right now. Whether it's Epsom Downs for a proper walk, or the quieter corners of Horton Country Park, June is the month to explore. The Downs especially are lovely for an evening stroll.
- Epsom Grill's got extended hours — If you're a night owl, the popular Waterloo Road takeaway has won permission to stay open until 3am on weekends. Well done to them — it's a proper win for late-night food lovers.
- Arts and creativity thriving nearby — Just over the border in Cranleigh, Speckled Dog Studio has opened at Smithbrook Kilns, offering family-friendly arts and crafts classes. If you're looking for something a bit different for the kids these summer holidays, it's worth keeping an eye on.
This Weekend
Saturday morning, get yourself down to Epsom Market — it's on this Saturday as always, brilliant for fresh veg, local bits and bobs, and a proper community feel. Afterwards, a wander around the town centre or up to the Downs for a longer walk works a treat.
If you're after something more leisurely, Epsom Downs is free and beautiful this time of year. Bring a picnic, bring the family, bring a book — June evenings up there are genuinely special. The views stretch for miles when it's clear.
Sunday? That's a good day to try somewhere new locally. The weather should hold, so an outdoor table somewhere in town would be lovely.
Where to Eat and Drink
Yaadein on Stoneleigh Road remains a firm favourite if you fancy proper Indian food — friendly service, generous portions, and the kind of place where regulars are treated like friends. Well worth booking ahead on weekends.
The Jolly Coopers is perfect if you want a proper pub lunch with a nice atmosphere. Good beer, proper food, and a real community vibe.
For something a bit lighter, The Rifleman does excellent coffee and something to eat, and it's a nice spot to settle in with the papers on a Saturday morning.
Worth Knowing
Epsom Market runs Wednesdays and Saturdays — get there early morning for the best choice, especially in summer when the stalls are busy.
Parking around the town centre can get tight on Saturday mornings and early evenings. If you're heading into town this weekend, give yourself a bit extra time, or consider the car parks near the station — they're usually quieter and a pleasant walk into the centre.
Enjoy the week, and do get outside. June in Epsom really is worth savouring.
