What's On in Epsom: 3–9 June 2026
A brilliant week to celebrate Epsom's green spaces, railway improvements, and late-night dining options.
Good Morning, Epsom
What a week it's been! Summer's properly arrived now, and it feels like Epsom's had some genuinely good news to shout about. Whether you're a rail commuter, a nature lover, or someone who enjoys a late bite after a night out, there's plenty to feel positive about right now.
This Week in Epsom
- Say hello to public railways — This Sunday (8 June), Thameslink, Southern, Gatwick Express and Great Northern services move into public ownership as part of the Great British Railways programme. If you're a regular commuter, keep an eye out for service improvements over the coming months. It's worth checking the GTR website for any timetable updates.
- Painshill Park steals the spotlight — Our beloved Painshill has been named one of the UK's most glorious oddities by The Guardian. If you've never explored this 18th-century wonderland just outside Epsom, now's the perfect time. The summer gardens are absolutely stunning right now.
- Wildlife gets a safe crossing — The new Cockrow Bridge over the A3 has opened to the public, giving both walkers and wildlife safe passage over one of Surrey's busiest roads. It's a proper win for the local environment and makes for a lovely spot to stretch your legs.
- Late-night food lovers, rejoice — Epsom Grill on Waterloo Road has been granted permission to serve until 3am on weekends. If you're out and about on a Saturday night, there's now a proper hot meal waiting for you whenever hunger strikes.
This Weekend
Weather permitting, this is ideal walking weather. Head up to Epsom Downs — it's always free, always beautiful, and the views across Surrey are particularly fine in June. You could easily combine it with a visit to Painshill Park if you fancy exploring a bit further; it's just a short drive away and genuinely one of the most interesting gardens you'll visit.
If you prefer something closer to home, Epsom Market is on this Saturday morning (7 June) — great for fresh produce, plants, and a friendly chat with locals. Pop along early if you want the best of the summer veg.
For something a bit more relaxed, a walk around the town centre followed by lunch somewhere nice is always a winner on a Saturday.
Where to Eat and Drink
If you fancy something proper and warm, Yaadein in Stoneleigh does excellent Indian food — the kind of place where the staff genuinely know their regulars. For something more casual, The Jolly Coopers is a solid choice for a pint and a burger, with a nice atmosphere whether you're popping in solo or bringing friends. And if you're craving something spiced, Dastaan on Kingston Road is consistently brilliant for Pakistani and Indian cuisine.
Worth Knowing
Rail changes this Sunday — If you're commuting on Southern, Thameslink, Gatwick Express or Great Northern services, Sunday's transition to public ownership is likely to run smoothly, but it's worth checking your usual journey beforehand. Download the GTR app or check their website if you want to stay in the loop.
Cockrow Bridge access — The new bridge is open to walkers and cyclists. It's a lovely spot for a stroll and actually changes the walking routes you can take across the A3 — worth exploring if you usually avoid that stretch of road.
Have a brilliant week, Epsom. We'll see you out and about!
