Good Morning, Epsom

It's been quite a week, hasn't it? But here we are, heading into the bank holiday weekend with spring sunshine on our side and plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy what makes Epsom special. Let's focus on the good stuff — time with people we care about, good food, and our lovely Surrey surroundings.

This Week in Epsom

- Bank Holiday Weekend Vibes — With the May bank holiday upon us, this is the perfect time to explore Epsom's brilliant pub scene. Surrey's premium country pubs are launching summer cocktails and seasonal menus, so whether you fancy a riverside drink or a proper country setting, there's something waiting for you.

- Community Coming Together — Our local church community is hosting the 'Hope for Epsom' event, bringing people together during what's been a challenging time for the town. It's a lovely reminder of how Epsom pulls together when it matters.

- Saturday Market — Don't forget Epsom's weekend market is on as usual. It's a proper Saturday tradition — fresh produce, local traders, and a real buzz about the place. Worth a wander, especially when the weather's this nice.

- Epsom Downs Open as Always — Whether you fancy a proper walk or just some fresh air and a bit of space, the Downs are calling. Free to visit, brilliant views, and perfect for a weekend morning stroll with the family.

This Weekend

Bring a picnic and head up to Epsom Downs — honestly, there's nowhere nicer on a May afternoon. The views across Surrey are gorgeous, and it's free. Alternatively, if you'd rather be among people, the Saturday market on the High Street is brilliant for a browse and a chat.

For something more structured, use the bank holiday as an excuse to try a new pub or restaurant. Pop along to one of the local spots doing summer menus — it's the perfect excuse to linger over a drink and some decent food without rushing off to work on Monday morning.

Where to Eat and Drink

Yaadein in Stoneleigh — If you're after properly good Indian food, this is where Epsom locals head. It's warm, welcoming, and the food is genuinely excellent. Perfect for a relaxed weekend meal.

The Jolly Coopers — A proper traditional pub with real character. It's exactly the kind of place to settle in for a pint and some good pub food, especially with the bank holiday atmosphere in full swing.

Dastaan on Kingston Road — Another excellent curry house doing brilliant South Asian cuisine. The team here really knows what they're doing, and it's well worth a visit if you fancy something special.

Worth Knowing

Parking Around Town — The High Street and market areas get busy on Saturdays, so if you're heading in for the market or shops, aim for mid-morning or late afternoon for easier parking. Or better yet, pop down on the bus — the 406, 418, and others run regularly.

Bank Holiday Quietness — Many smaller shops and some cafés may have adjusted hours over the bank holiday weekend, so if you're after something specific, it's worth a quick call ahead. Most pubs and restaurants will be open and ready to welcome you though.

Have a lovely week, Epsom. We've got this.
